Fat transfer buttock augmentation

What should you know about buttock augmentation with fat transfer? What happens during the first consultation?

Certain parts of our body can be spectacularly shaped by gymnastics or sports, but genetics is also an intensely determining factor. Tightening and shaping of the buttocks is particularly difficult because the so called gluteal muscle is the biggest muscle of our body, so it develops slower than the muscle of the thigh for example. Additionally, the look of the buttocks depends on largely the solidity of adipose substances and the condition of the skin’s connective tissue.

Buttock augmentation with fat grafting involves transfer of fat from areas in which you have excess fat into the buttocks in order to achieve a fuller, more rounded buttock. The procedure does not cause allergic reactions, does not involve surgical incisions, and uses only organic materials. During your first appointment you will be assessed and advised by our plastic surgeon, and he will discuss the personalized possibilities with you. The surgeon will provide detailed procedural information about buttock augmentation, make a recommendation as to what kind of correction is most suitable for you, and explain the technique that will be used during the procedure. The surgeon will be pleased to answer any questions that you may have about the procedure, and you will also have a chance to see reference photos of the plastic surgeon.

Preparing for the buttock augmentation

Before the buttock augmentation you must go for a complete medical check-up. The reason for this is to find out whether you have any health problems, which could have an influence on the buttock lift. All preliminary examinations are made at out Plastic Surgery Institute, so you do not need to queue up and wait in other health centers. In the course of the medical check-up laboratory tests and as occasion requires, other examinations (ECG, X-rays, etc.) are performed according to the surgeon’s suggestion.

In certain cases we advise our patients to change their lifestyle in the days preceding the buttock augmentation. To facilitate proper recovery it is important that you do not smoke, because nicotine slows down the process of regeneration and harmfully influences the healing of the wound. In the days before the buttock lift you should eat light foods, drink lots of fluids and take some vitamins (vitamin C, selenium, zinc). Two weeks before the buttock augmentation you should avoid the use of aspirin, ginko biloba and other naturopathic products.

Buttock augmentation with fat transfer

Buttock augmentation with fat transfer uses state-of-the-art technology. Fat cells are taken from the patient's body, treated with the appropriate technique, and injected back into the areas that need augmentation. This autologous fat is the safest and most ideal filler available in plastic surgery today. The transferred fat enhances the bottoms in appearance and volume, which results in a fuller, more curvaceous and more sculpted look. The advantage of this procedure is that no foreign substance is used and the recovery period is shorter than in the case of buttock implant surgery. Fat transfer to the buttocks is performed under local anaesthetic and takes 1 hour to complete.

Techniques of fat transfer to the buttocks

In order to do buttocks augmentation with fat transfer, we first perform liposuction to remove excess fat from the abdomen or the hips. The fat cells in these areas are the ones that react most slowly to weight loss, which makes them ideal for use in buttocks augmentation with fat grafting. The fat cells are first allowed to settle, and then they are filtered to separate out the intact healthy fat. This fat is then transferred to the treatment areas in the bottoms. The injected fat cells settle in the buttocks firmly. About 20 to 40% of the transferred fat cells are resorpted during the first few weeks. In order to compensate for this, it is advisable to slightly overfill the bottoms.

Recovery and the risks of buttock augmentation with fat transfer

In our Plastic Surgery Institute we aim to make the period after fat transfer to the buttocks as convenient for you as possible. After buttock augmentation with fat transfer you will be monitored by a physician for a couple of hours before returning home. After the procedure you can return to your work and other activities as usual. In a few cases some bleeding may occur under the skin, but this disappears after a few days. It is an advantage of this procedure that it does not cause an allergic reaction. Buttock augmentation with fat transfer is an autologous procedure, which means that only body-identical materials are used in the process. After fat transfer to the buttocks you have to attend control examinations after the 1st and 6th weeks.

The results of buttock augmentation with fat transfer

You can say good-bye to flat, unshapely buttocks forever. Your bottom will be more rounded and the balance of your body will improve, which will make you satisfied with your own body. The results of fat transfer to the buttocks are immediately visible; if necessary, the procedure can be repeated after half a year. The injected fat cells are reabsorbed gradually over the course of 2 to 4 years.
