What should you know about a lip augmentation? What happens during the first consultation?

The lip augmentation is an aesthetic procedure, which makes the lips fuller and younger. The nice, full lip is one of the symbols of the femininity, so it is understandable that the lip enhancement is one of the most popular cosmetic procedures. The small wrinkles around the mouth can be smoothed out, the fullness and the thickness of the lips can be increased and asymmetry can be corrected with the lip augmentation. The lip augmentation

The lips can be made fuller with the lip augmentation by injecting dissolvable filler. Before the treatment, similar to dental surgery, we anaesthetize the area of the mouth and the mouth as well. In the course of the lip enhancement, if the shaping of lip’s contour is necessary, the plastic surgeon sticks a needle into the lip 2-3mm deep between the pink part of the lip and the skin. The injection is made from the front side of the mucous membrane to thicken the lips. The filler is injected at several points of the lips. Depending on the type of lip augmentation, the procedure takes 20-30 minutes. In our Plastic Surgery Institute we use Juvederm Ultra or Juvederm Ultra Smile, they are American, dissolvable products, based on hyaluronan. The effect of the filler lasts 8-14 months.

Techniques of the lip enhancement

There are two types of fillers: self-absorbing, and non-absorbing, permanent products (for example: silicone oil). The latter is used less and less nowadays, because their usage accompanies a lot of complications. Among the self-absorbing fillers, the products which are most efficient are based on hyaluronan, because this substance is found also in the organism so its absorption does not cause a problem. The duration of the absorbing effect is different by every products and procedures, lasting anywhere from 8-14 months. Lip augmentation needs to be repeated at definite intervals to reserve the results of the procedure.

Recovering and risks of a lip augmentation

After the lip augmentation mild swelling and flush of the skin can occur, but it automatically goes away after a few days. After the lip enhancement you should avoid chewing gum, dental surgeries and the massage of the mouth for few days. You can use make-up after 2 days, but you should avoid the solarium and cosmetic tattoos for a month. The occurrence of complications after the lip augmentation is extremely slight, but it cannot be excluded. These complications can be the following: asymmetry, sustained swelling, hemorrhage, temporary changing in the sensitivity of the lips.

Results of the lip augmentation

The results of the lip augmentation are immediately visible, the lips become fuller and the wrinkles around the mouth will be smoothed out. After the lip enhancement your whole face will look younger, and your appearance will be more feminine and sensual.
